A programme of work to improve a number of underpasses throughout Stevenage has been completed. Stevenage Borough Council has worked in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council to deliver underpass artworks that celebrate everything the town has to offer.

In September 2023, three new pieces of artwork were unveiled at the underpass located by Stevenage FC and Wickes at the Broadhall Way roundabout. These artworks represent the town’s achievements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the town’s green spaces and active travel routes, and Stevenage Football Club (Stevenage F.C).

In July 2024, artworks themed to represent ‘Stevenage on Wheels’, Town Centre Gardens and Stevenage Photographers were revealed at the Monkswood Way and Six Hills Way roundabout, followed by artwork at the Sish Lane underpass in September 2024. The Sish Lane artwork is part of a key travel route between Stevenage Old Town and Stevenage Town Centre, and the community were asked to share their memories to form part of this.

In July 2025, the latest underpass transformation was revealed at the Martins Way/Hitchin Road underpass, featuring artwork from local school children. This was followed by a further seven artworks located throughout the town:
